Just days after officially joining the DOWN team, Mathys Fronasier proved exactly why he belongs here. At the second stop of this year’s Freeride World Tour, Mathys didn’t just land in the 5th place—he earned something way cooler: Rider of the Day at the Val Thorens Pro.
If you watched his run, you know why. Mathys put down a line that balanced technical precision and full-send energy, the kind of skiing that makes you stop, rewind, and watch again. The judges saw it, the crowd felt it, and the FWT crew stamped it with the Rider of the Day award.
For us, this is what it’s all about. Committed, stylish freeriding that speaks louder than the scoreboard. Stoked to have Mathys in the DOWN family, and even more stoked to see what’s next.
His mentor, another important player of the DOWN team, Mickaël Bimboes, spoke about the run Mathys threw DOWN:
"Incredibly solid and fast but also nicely instinctive!”
Stay loose, stay fast & talk soon.
