ABOUT THE SKI

The CountDown 114 L is a best seller in the DOWN lineup and for good reason. It strikes the balance of stability, fun, and float perfect for all skiers looking to hit both the lifts and the backcountry.

A full lenght Paulownia wood core is blended with carbon fiber to make the ski not only light but damp.

The CD114 Ls 5 point shape combined with our hybrid-rocker-camber profile makes the ski easy to use for both skiers new to freeride or comp riders. Proving its versatility, the CD114 has been the one and only ski for pro athlete Mickael Bimboes as he won 2 events on the FTW including the famous Verbier Extreme! A 1st for a carbon ski and a 1st for an indie ski company.

FREERIDE ROCKER

The ultimate in versatility and smoothness, our freeride rocker profile combines camber underfoot with a low rise, elliptical tip and a nearly flat tail. The underfoot camber gives instant edge grip in tricky conditions and the smooth transition into the tip and tail rocker lets you engage the full effective edge on demand for smooth carving. The low rise, elliptical tip provides full snow contact, punches through uneven snow with minimal deflection and keeps you on top of even the deepest, fluffiest powder.

NEW FOR 2024-2025

The latest version of the CountDown Carbon 114L features significant upgrades in durability and performance. Here's what we improved for the 24/25 version of the CD114:

  • increased underfoot stability by adding a 605mm long / 0,5mm strong Titanal zone centered around the BMP
  • 1,8mm thick bases replace 1,2mm thick bases: 50% more beef underfoot gives extended product life & more tunability
  • 2,2mm strong edges replace 1,9mm strong edges: better impact resistance, longer life
  • SUPERSAP epoxy: our secret sauce, so-to-say, is a blend of Supersaps 33% biobased resin with our proprietary hardener; a result that is superior to the ski industry standard in terms of tensile strenght and impact resistance
  • adjusted core profile: we slightly modified the core profile from a somewhat trapezoid-type profile, to a more bell-curve profile. You'll notice a subtle improvement in the fineness of the ski
  • a lightweight PAULOWNIA core
  • premium CPS-made P-TEX bases in UHM sintered quality; non-die-cut and silk-screen printed: this ensures a nice look, while maintaining the physical integrity of the full running lenght (what is not cut is hard to break)

What are B-Grade Skis?

At DOWN, we strive for perfection in every ski we make, but occasionally, some skis fall short in terms of appearance.

Performance:

Our B-grade skis deliver the same top-tier performance and build quality as our standard A-grade products. They adhere to our stringent 33-point quality control system and strict QC guidelines.

Imperfections:

B-grade skis have minor cosmetic flaws, such as:

- color imperfections or patches

- small dimples or dents

- slightly off-center graphics

- minor epoxy resin residues

If these aesthetic imperfections don't bother you, you can enjoy the exceptional performance of DOWN skis at an even better price!
