The 2025 Freeride World Tour has already reached its halfway point—final stop included. This year, we’re watching especially closely as our up-and-coming freeride protégé, Mathys Fornasier, under the tutelage of our past, present, and future star, Mickael Bimboës, stepped onto the biggest freeride stage for the first time. With only two more stops separating the skiers from qualifying for the grand finals in Verbier, let’s take a look at how M&M have performed so far.
Stop 1: 2025 Baqueira Beret Pro by Movistar
The pressure was high – qualifying for the FWT in the first year doing the FWT Challenger by Orage, quite some eyes were on Mathys. Sadly, everything didn’t go as planned – Mathys clipped a rock almost immediately out of the start gate, lost a ski and tumbled DOWN a huge cliff. Ice broken, the helmet also, but luckily everything else in one piece.
Stop 2: 2025 Val Thorens Pro
Most guys on the tour would probably take it easy for a while—chill a bit and take a conservative approach to their next event. Not Mathys. Combining outstanding speed with two backflips and a flat spin in between, his run was everything he had hoped for, securing him both "The Rider of the Day" award and a Top 5 position.
Stop 3: 2025 Kicking Horse Golden BC Pro
Pumped from a majestic run at the second stop, Mathys was visibly motivated to outdo his Val Thorens performance. He started with a smooth 360°, picked up tons of speed through the featured zone, and went into full send mode with a huge (and we mean freaking huge) backflip over a pyramid-shaped rock section. He stuck the landing, but the impact was just too heavy for our young Frenchman to stay fully in control. Not great for the points, but absolutely epic for the crowd.
Time to Shine!
With the 2025 Georgia Pro and 2025 Fieber still on the menu, Mathys and Mickael are buckling up with one goal and one goal only—to qualify for the 2025 Yeti Xtreme Verbier by Honda. We’re right by their side. As they refine Mathys’ technique, style, and mindset, we’re perfecting our product to match their needs.
More on a custom structural redesign of our CD114—tailor-made for M&M—next time. 😉
