ABOUT THE SKI

Brand new for winter 2024-25 come the SHOWDOWN 108. A wide all mountain ski intended for all skiers that split their time between resort and backcountry, in what is probably a 30/70 (backcountry : resort) split. This is a playful and simple ski, yet robust and reliable. The SD108 features two layers of Titanal, making it a very stable platform, yet comes in a relatively low weight.

The key features are:

  • Early Rise Tip & relatively flat tail - for easy initiation, reliability in mixed and variable conditions, and stability on harder packs
  • Underfoot Camber - for control on harder packs, and pop
  • 2 sheets of metal - top & bottom TITANAL to be precise & torsionally stable
  • a tip-to-tail, full-lenght poplar woodcore - our medium density sandwich core with the best compromise of light weight and stability
  • a tail notch to accomodate skin hooks
  • Polyurethane Sidewalls - with a shore hardness comparable to skatboard wheels and adding dampening to this relatively lightweight ski
  • our time-proven "DuraProof" construction consisting of full-thickness, UHM sintered ski bases, full-thickness, double-annealed steel edges, top-of-the shelf, thick Polyiamide ("Nylon") top-sheets, time-tried sandwich layup and rounded-top-edge protective cap

FREERIDE ROCKER

The ultimate in versatility and smoothness, our freeride rocker profile combines camber underfoot with a low rise, elliptical tip and a nearly flat tail. The underfoot camber gives instant edge grip in tricky conditions and the smooth transition into the tip and tail rocker lets you engage the full effective edge on demand for smooth carving. The low rise, elliptical tip provides full snow contact, punches through uneven snow with minimal deflection and keeps you on top of even the deepest, fluffiest powder.

QUALITY IN THIS SKI

All DOWN skis strive to offer the best in value. As one of the few true manufacturing companies in the freeskiing game, we have in-house R&D and source personally & direct with the best suppliers on the market. This ski is built from:

  • a full-lenght, tip-to-tail POPLAR WOODCORE woodcore
  • premium, ultra-high-molecular P-TEX sintered bases from german supplier CPS
  • Austrian-made, double-annealed, full-thickness steel edges
  • thick 0,5mm top-of-the shelf POLYAMIDE 11/12 top sheets from german supplier CPS
  • "two sheets of metal" which for the SD100 are two full-lenght layers of Austrian-manufactured TITANAL

What are B-Grade Skis?

At DOWN, we strive for perfection in every ski we make, but occasionally, some skis fall short in terms of appearance.

Performance:

Our B-grade skis deliver the same top-tier performance and build quality as our standard A-grade products. They adhere to our stringent 33-point quality control system and strict QC guidelines.

Imperfections:

B-grade skis have minor cosmetic flaws, such as:

- color imperfections or patches

- small dimples or dents

- slightly off-center graphics

- minor epoxy resin residues

If these aesthetic imperfections don't bother you, you can enjoy the exceptional performance of DOWN skis at an even better price!
