Well, that was a heavy one.
Mathys' FWT debut season came to an end in Fieberbrunn a good week ago, with gnarly snow conditions shutting down the men’s category before they could throw DOWN one last time.
You don’t even wanna know how Mathys and Micka took it…
Mathys was on a mission all season (minus that first stop—luck straight up ghosted him).
But even with the setbacks, he sent it. Hard.
Stop by Stop Recap (minus the grand finale 🙃)
- Baqueira Beret Pro – A rock tap chucked Mathys’ ski just 50m after dropping in. Brutal.
- Val Thorens Pro – A heater of a run on home turf snagged him Rider of the Day and a TOP 5 finish.
- Kicking Horse Golden BC Pro – Sent a MASSIVE backflip over the Rodney Pyramid, stomped it, but the impact was too much (check the cover photo… oof).
- Georgia Pro – Relaxing a tad too early, a compression wave caught him off guard right before the finish line.
He Left It All Out There.
Even with all of the chaos, Mathys still finished just three spots below the finals cut for the FWT25 Finals at Yeti Xtreme Verbier by Honda.
That’s why his head is held high, already making plans to return to FWT27.
Why not FWT26??
Both for the finals and next season, the cut is the same. Since Mathys missed the finals cut, he also missed requalifying for FWT26 – Miss one, miss both.
But don’t worry, Mathys is already eyeing FWT27.
Season 24/25 Debriefs:
Mathys – “It was a season full of learning. I’ll come back stronger. The adventure with DOWN is just beginning, I can’t wait to see what the future holds.”
Mr. Bimboes – “We’re slowly switching into freestyle mode with spring snow. It feels good to be pushing to the end of April.
"Don’t be sad it’s over, smile because it happened." And that we shall.
FWT27, you better be ready for Mathys, Micka, and DOWN.
